Sherri Lynn Davis: Texas Teacher Beats Student (Video)

Greta Perry The Princess of Positive reports for www.rightpunidts.com As a former teacher and now a mother who sends my babies to school to be safe and learn, this video was deeply disturbing. The video taken by the classmate of 13 year old Isaiah Johnson who was beaten up by his 40 year old teach Sheri Lynn Davis at a Houston Charter School (she was not a certified teacher) is the subject of this report. This is an extreme case of anger management issues for the now former teacher at this Houston charter school. She reportedly worked at the school for three years without any issues. However, she does have a pending charge for slashing tires. This video brings up lots of topics for discussion: anger management, corporal punishment, whether all teachers should be certified and how everything you say and do can and will be permanent record somehow. No child deserves to be treated this way by his teacher, no excuses.

CHL# 939 Old Trappers Lodge

Some cool science of staying young images:

CHL# 939 Old Trappers Lodge
science of staying young

The statues were built by an aged visionary named John Ehn. Proud of his pioneer ancestry, he called himself "The Old Trapper" and spent the last thirty years of his life crafting his masterworks, using his family and himself as models, a classic victim of dementia concretia. He displayed the finished sculptures at his motel near Burbank Airport, which he named The Old Trapper’s Lodge.

Ehn was 84 when he died in 1981. His creations were declared a California state cultural landmark four years later. Culture, however, rarely stops progress in Southern California. Bulldozers arrived to level The Old Trappers Lodge in the late 1980s. The statues were imperiled. And here’s where the story gets murky.

Pioneer Family Stands Bravely.
The Trapper’s Family stands bravely.

Apparently, an unknown fan of The Old Trapper made a phone call to nearby Pierce College. Somehow, he or she persuaded a decision-maker at the school to "adopt" the statues. Before anyone else knew what had happened, the Trapper’s Lodge statues had a new home in Cleveland Park — an out-of-the-way patch of land behind the Animal Sciences Building. What was said to seal the deal, and what was the fallout for the decision-maker, no one will say.

An even greater mystery surrounds the continued upkeep of the Old Trapper’s creations. According to a Pierce official, "Every few years we get a letter saying that someone’s coming down to repaint the statues." The folks at Pierce never bother to ask who; all they care about is that someone else pays the bill. "Last time the statues got painted, the trail around the Park needed work as well." The college couldn’t afford it — so the mysterious caretakers did it themselves. "Did a good job, too."

The brightly-colored figures are arranged near a large barbeque grill. A Mormon does battle with one Indian, while another carries away a scantily clad woman in a scene titled "Kidnap." Bizarre faces poke up from the ground. A Miner and two Gold Rush gals relax on a rough wooden bench.

Mesmerizing stare.

John Ehn would be pleased that his statues have been kept so well, though he’d be frustrated that no one comes to admire the maintenance. Most Pierce staffers don’t even know that they exist. Pierce is a commuter school, so its students are even more oblivious — the statues are ignored, and have never been draped with toilet paper or disrespectfully dressed in holiday-theme outerwear. Perhaps the young people instinctively sense the Dark Force that surrounds these scary totems, and give them a wide berth.

After The Old Trapper’s Lodge statues took up residence at Pierce, the college had fallen on hard financial times. Like a parasite draining its host, John Ehn’s work remained fresh-as-a-daisy while the college slowly wasted away. (As of 2008 apparently those problems have passed, and the college just completed an expansion.)

Perhaps, in the not-too-distant future, Pierce College will again falter and close its gates for good. If that happens, the Old Trapper’s Lodge statues will no doubt stay as they are, forever young, lovingly maintained amid the ruin that surrounds them, by persons unknown, for reasons unknown, in complete isolation.

Foods That Help Prevent Wrinkles – Discover What Keeps Your Skin Looking Young and Radiant

Foods That Help Prevent Wrinkles – Discover What Keeps Your Skin Looking Young and Radiant

What if I told you that the foods that help prevent wrinkles are also important for your health. There are specific nutrients your skin needs to keep it glowing, smooth and protected.

This article will point out the important foods your diet should contain. And, also why finding a quality anti-aging skin care product is important for keeping your skin young looking, radiant and protected from the elements.

Foods that Prevent Wrinkles

• Foods High in Antioxidants — Your skin’s first line of defense against free radical damage are antioxidants. Free radical skin cell damage is the main reason why skin ages. Therefore, including foods high in antioxidants definitely help. Foods such as: leafy green veggies (are the highest), spinach, broccoli, kale, blueberries, are among the best foods that help prevent wrinkles you can have in your diet.

• Foods High in Omega 3 — One of the nutrients most important for skin health is omega 3 fatty acids. For instance, fatty fish naturally high in omega 3′s are tuna and salmon. Because both species of fish are high in essential fatty acids, it’s vital for nice skin.

Also, nuts like almond and cashew are more foods that prevent wrinkles because they provide the skin with healthy fats. The fats which keep skin nourished and properly maintained to help prevent damage.

Important Quality Anti-Aging Skin Care Products

Because our skin is the biggest organ in your body, it’s important to treat it with respect. Just remember… what you put on your skin is ingested by your body. So, by using a high quality anti-aging skin care product containing beneficial natural nutrients and substances, they can be absorbed into the skin and body where they can benefit you.

Saying that, it’s important to realize that the products you apply to your skin should not be harmful. Harmful ingredients can also be absorbed into your skin. They enter your bloodstream which may lead to skin rashes, acne and even the risk of cancer.

But, here are two highly favorable natural ingredients found in skin care products:

As part of the aging process, your skin cells in the epidermis (outer layer) become thin making your skin more susceptible to bruising and infection. Also, your collagen  production decreases and new skin cells are not produced as fast as before. Therefore, your skin loses its elasticity and firmness. Once this starts happening, you need to use proven natural ingredients found in skin care products.

1. Cynergy TK — in clinical trials (on human volunteers), it was shown to increase the body’s regrowth of collagen and elastin proteins. Two vital skin proteins responsible for a youthful glow. Since the collagen and elastin proteins are responsible for the firm, smooth, supple skin, it’s important to increase their levels so wrinkles and other aging skins won’t start to appear.

2. Phytessence Wakame — a natural substance extracted from Japanese sea kelp containing health-giving properties. In fact, in Japan the kelp is considered one of the best foods that help prevent wrinkles it’s eaten regularly. And, since it was discovered that by using the extracts of phytessence wakame in skin care products, the signs of aging start to diminish.

montage: secret faces i make while having boring and pointless meetings with the boss
addiction meetings

Lord do I need a new job. My boss came into my office today and sat down. That right there is a bad sign. I immediately floated from my body to watch the events unfold from above, every so often tapping my body on the shoulder to remind it to either nod or laugh or say "Hmm" depending on the scenario. He first told me he wanted to know how much time all of my "tasks" took me (does he know about my flickr addiction?! eek…), then moved on to telling me about something someone thought i was doing wrong, then moved over to discussing some tv show in way too much detail. I zoned out. And started imagining this montage that I could make as a direct result of this conversation.

Here you go.

Lincolnshire Fact
addiction meetings

Lincoln natives are mostly unaware they are accumulating a somatic burden from the local fertiliser factory.

But tell them and they quickly develop psychological defences to such facts, similar to the excuses you hear from smokers.

So thanks to Lincolnshire County Council for providing this page where you can send in your very own Lincolnshire Fact.

Fluoride-dispensing Charlie Ireland’s swansong as Council Chairman was to end a special meeting – after four minutes – about whether the Council’s Leader should be sacked for not attending meetings (he’d been in prison).

The reason the meeting was unnecessary? Councillor Speechley had been released just in time, and had arrived at the meeting, wearing his electronic tag.

Of course only bland, innocuous facts, harmless to the fluorocratic machine, will actually make it onto the website.

As all public participation in the Council’s democratic affairs is pointless, further contributions on this theme are as pointless as any other.

If you are a fan of this kind of activity, why not join me by picking and submitting some fluoride facts of your own to the Council?

While there are only two pro-fluoride "facts", whose endless repetition has rendered them threadbare to all except the most enthusiastically deadbrained, there are literally thousands of the other kind, and far more interesting they are too.

Why would appeals to the County Council, which did not initiate fluoridation and has no jurisdiction over drinking water, be relevant?

When fluoridated drivers bang into one another, it is on the Council’s roads.

The Council’s fluoridated police are also called when fluoridated criminals, possibly addicts suffering from ADHD, slip into their old people’s homes – full of Alzheimer’s patients – to rob the residents.

The Council is so up to its ears in it all that it had to fiddle its budget.

I am sure you can see from this that any appeal to this authority for a reduction in the population’s toxic load is a thoroughly misguided one.

What on earth would the fluorocrats do with themselves if all these matters became more manageable?

Send your Lincolnshire fluoride fact here

Prince & Hope
addiction meetings

Alongside the plaque for Louis Le Prince is another which, given the often seedy direction which the cinema he pioneered has taken, represents a nice irony. In the same building, in 1847, campaigners against the demon drink met to form the Band of Hope movement.

The Band of Hope started when a 72 year old Irish Presbyterian was invited to Leeds to speak at some children’s meetings. Ann Jane Carlile was convinced that children suffered because of the ready availability of ‘strong drink’. Ann met a young Baptist minister called Jabez Tunnicliffe, who had been shaken to the core by an experience with a dying alcoholic. Just before he died, the man had grabbed Tunnicliffe and made him promise to warn children about the dangers of drink. Jabez was one of 22 children of a Wolverhampton shoemaker and had gained a reputation for high principles and matching oratory since coming to Leeds in 1842.

Ann and Jabez discovered their common interest and decided to start a regular children’s meeting. One suggestion is that Ann is supposed to have said “What a happy band these children make, they are the hope for the future.” Another is that at that inaugural meeting, Jabez moved his Quaker friends by telling them how addiction to drink had killed a once-respectable and pious young family man. Jabez waved a sheet carrying the words of a popular melody: "Come all ye children, sing a song … the Band of Hope shall be our name, the Temperance star our guide".

Fifty years later, the Band of Hope numbered over 3 million children and adults. Queen Victoria was its Jubilee patron and it was part of the fabric of Victorian society and the Church

The nearby Leeds Bridge House was built as a Temperance Hotel around 1875 by John James Cousins, a Leeds banker. It closed as a hotel in 1900 when it was taken over by Tunstall & Co (Manufacturing Chemists or Roofing Felt Manufacturers ?). It later had a number of uses until it was scheduled for demolition in 1960. It was reprieved and made into offices in 1981. Its triangular shape reflects the restricted space available on the site.

Women Learn to ?Strip Off? Doldrums and Rekindle Confidence

New York City, NY (PRWEB) December 18, 2003

Sky London, whose career in the adult entertainment industry spans three decades is now teaching women Â?How to Strip for Your LoverÂ? in well-attended classes in New York and Los Angeles. She returns to the Learning Annex in New York City with classes in January and February 2004.

Sky is a beautiful and dynamic 54-year-old woman whose down-to-earth, Â?make the most of what youÂ?ve got and get yoursÂ? attitude is contagious and empowering.

Classes are for women only, but men as well as the women who love them benefit from SkyÂ?s Â?been-there done-that, and several times with your fatherÂ? raunchy teaching style which makes her classes entertaining as well as educational.

Of late, sex-focused exercise classes have come into vogue, but SkyÂ?s class isnÂ?t just an aerobic workout. LondonÂ?s sound understanding of what makes men tick and knowledge of a womanÂ?s power and intelligence make her classes unique. The moves are easy enough that you neednÂ?t be a gym-rat to master them. Women see that they can take charge of a sexual situation and drive it. Most women who take the class acknowledge a feeling of self-assuredness afterwards.

Â?SheÂ?s good at this,Â? said a 40-year-old accountant. Â?She is saying, Â?This is something all women haveÂ? and she shows you how to make the most of it.Â? Three weeks after class, another student said she still feels Â?frisky.Â? Another woman confided that something had occurred to make her feel sheÂ?d lost a piece of her femininity. She took SkyÂ?s class because she thought it might help restore it. Her comments: Â?I couldnÂ?t take my eyes off Sky. It was entertaining, she teaches a real routine Â? and the best part is — it was a real confidence builder. Although I didnÂ?t have anyone to dance for when I got home, I looked in the mirror and thought, IÂ?ve got the goods right here. And theyÂ?re mine to do what I please.Â?

A 45-year-old healthcare professional said, Â?Back in the day, IÂ?d have to have an affair to pick up a few new moves. Well, those days are over, and now I have a whole new repertoire at far less cost and IÂ?m not talking about the money. Her instruction is a lot of fun, and although it might not save a deeply troubled relationship, it will definitely revive an interest in bedroom antics which, in turn, can give a lackluster sex life a healthier glow. I mean, how much would you pay for renewed interest in your sex life?Â?

Not everyone was impressed. A college student said, Â?I didnÂ?t learn anything new. But I had a lot of fun.Â? She had registered with a group of friends.

Sky wants to bring her continuing education to people who donÂ?t have access to her classes and is working on a video that would enable Â?women who are shy or those who live in the middle of the U.S.Â? to take advantage of her teaching. Her cable TV-show, “Sleeping with Sky London,” airs at 10 p.m. on Fridays in New York (check local listings). Aside from her Learning Annex classes, Sky London is available for private lessons and bachelorette parties.
