Pre marriage questions for a happy marriage life

“Why is it that women bear the burdens of family life and the men sow their seed and absolve themselves from any further responsibility?”

Of course this is not true in most cases and men today share a greater responsibility in family life. But if you’re reading this, then chances are you are one of the less fortunate and your partner has decided that he’ll have nothing to do with the responsibilities of family life.

A woman’s natural inclination when choosing the father of her children is to pick a man she sees as good mating stock and who will be around afterwards to protect, and provide and care for the family. Unfortunately, this sometimes doesn’t work out as planned – either the situation develops after the commitment to the relationship has been made or the man’s attitude has been there all the time but hidden.

Ideally, both partners should find out as much as they can about their prospective partners BEFORE committing themselves to the relationship. That is easier said than done when everything seems ideal in the first flush of romance.

So what are you to do?

If you’re not yet committed, you want to find out what you can about your partner without causing offense or seeming to quiz them.

If you’re in a committed relationship, then you need to know whether things can be changed around, and receive the companionship and support you need.

The ideal situation is for you and your partner to know as much as possible about each other so you can make an informed decision. Ask the questions that matter, about religion, careers, whether to have children and how to bring up children, and so on, and decide whether you can live with the answers.

This doesn’t have to be done in a confrontational or quizzical way and can even be made into a game by picking 2 or 3 questions a day at random from a pre-written list. That way, you don’t have the responsibility of having picked the question, but you’ll get a lot of information from your partner’s reaction.
